Hey! Nice briefing. If you need someone to play Dionysiou or any other NPC, I’m keen.

I’ve started using a pretty good and free alternative. You can use FaceTrackNoIR which is a free webcam face tracking application. I don’t have a webcam attached to my desktop so I’m using droid cam on my phone linked to my PC via wifi and it works great. The only downside is that the latency is higher than Track IR and of course it’s not 100% accurate, but it does the same job for free. The upside is that you don’t have to wear any markers or caps like you do with Track IR. Link to FaceTrackNoIR: http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm

A couple of guys have tried facetracknoir, and I think most of them eventually canned it for a number of different reasons. The track clip thing you wear on your earphones isn’t really a big deal if you wear headphones.

Heya I’m looking for a team based military experience again. Always wanted to try arma but never got stuck into it due to the high barrier of entry. I used to play in a bf – bc and bf3 clan and enjoyed it immensely. Nowadays however, I am looking for a slower paced and more tactical approach to military sim gaming and thought I would try out arma 2 again. So to get the most out of it I’ve come to ZA to look for a home It appears that ZA has moved over to arma 3 (from what I’ve gathered by reading the forums), however would it be possible to get to know you guys and do some training/missions in arma 2 before I spend the R450 on arma 3?

    Hi,

I think its very possible. We have an Arma 2 server: http://zulu-alpha.co.za/offices-sop/servers/ and I’m sure something can be arranged. Arma 2 is still played, but mostly in the games against overseas groups that haven’t moved to Arma 3.

Ja I expected it would be great for flying. Some say I must wait for the new Oculist Rift headset, but that’s gonna cost a small fortune I think. So I’ll give the T.IR a go, maybe I can land a chopper then

Yeah, I’ve had my TrackIR for about 2 years, and I can’t stand Arma without it. It just becomes a natural extension of your situational awareness. After while you don’t notice it, and not having it becomes annoying. Oculus Rift is still a way off. If you get a good year or two of TrackIR in, your’re good.
