WARNORD – Operation ThunderTown

Description:

1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 04:45 hrs

Lighting: Clear

Weather: 3Km Visibility

ZA Ranger Troop Delta is stationed in the Kunduz region of Afghanistan and has been assigned with the task of patrolling the area and ensuring that local insurgent forces are forced out of the area.
 

A. Enemy Forces: Enemy forces are typical Afghani insurgent forces, armed with Soviet Era small arms. The insurgents are firmly entrenched in the AO and have completely dominated the local population. As such there are no friendlies in the area and any military aged may can be considered an enemy combatant

B. Friendly Forces: Zulu-Alpha Ranger Troop Delta has inserted on foot into the AO and are currently formed up at 038000.

1) Equipment: Standard limited ammo and equipment incl. 1x Mortar

2) Surveillance: 1 x Raven RQ-11

3) Ground Vehicles: 1x UGV

4) Fixed Wing: None

5) Rotary Wing: None

6) Naval: None

Other friendly forces: None

C. Civilian Presence: Any civilians if present are to be considered hostile.

2. Mission

Your force is to perform a long range patrol into the AO and is to clear up the East and West banks of the river ensuring the Southern (032009) and Northern (030039) earthen bridges are clear for friendly armour to move into the area.

3. Execution

CO can proceed as they see fit, keeping in mind that intelligence believes that the bulk of insurgent forces will be in compounds on either side of the river.

ROE: You are free to engage all armed personnel in the area

B. MEDICAL SUPPORT Zulu-Alpha handles medical requirements internally.

C. LOGISTICAL SUPPORT Zulu-Alpha handles logistical requirements internally.
