@Matthew and Yuri: Well done gents. We don’t know what the criteria is to pass selection, but I think we did pretty well last night. Seems we all had some issue with the weather and Comms. I dont know about you, but the “jesus” drive had me tense as hell.
@DS: Thanks for another great evening. Two things I learnt:
one: there’s quite a bit of functionality in Arma and AGM that I have not used in SP, like fixing a wheel, (which apparently only requires a new wheel and no tools, and how to fire a mortar)
two: dont have any expectations, just go with the flow – Matthews call sign is gonna be Jesus (the spanish version , Je-Sus).one question: last night while firing mortar (and other occasions) I had some unwanted actions. The space key is the team speak key, but also the “use default action ” key in Arma. Do you guys unbind the space key from the use default , or do you use a different teamspeak push to talk key? how do you change the latter, as mine did not accept anything but mouse buttons when last I tried?
We discussed moving phase 3 to Saturday 20:00 if the DS is okay with it.
Hey Anzio Re the team speak buttons, i use a mouse thumb button and i am pretty sure that most of the others do the same. I also know that a couple of people use voice activation but that has to be pretty well fine tuned otherwise there is a lot of open mike noise.

What do most of the arma 3 players use for flight? Joystick, mouse or gamepad? Phoenix uses a gamepad I believe – I’m just considering buying a joystick / gamepad and wondering if you know which is better?

@Matthew. I was watching some of dslexci’s vids on flight, and he actually advised against joystick (I cant remember the vid, but it is on what he uses and why) . He uses keyboard for gross movement and mouse for fine control, BUT, track IR is essential for that system. Also, pedals. I tried using my racing wheel pedals and I can say it does help as you have less fumbling around on keyboard.
I use a joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) for flying which I think works really well, think there might be a couple of other guys that use it as well. I don’t fly that much though, only really when I am flying around a map mission making which does not really require all that much skill. This Joystick has a twist axis which i use for rudder so don’t use pedals for flying. What I do use my racing wheel pedals for is for leaning so it frees up fingers. I don’t have a gamepad so an really comment on that.
A lot of the guys use TrackIR, but I use something called an EDTracker (www.edtracker.org.uk) is very good and a fuckton cheaper than TrackIR (R680 for a built one including postage and duties from the uk) and with a little tweaking have it working perfectly.

@Anyone – one more noob question, but if no one is in the server (main or testing) how would I choose a mission / map if for example there was a group of us who wanted to play a mission? To put it more clearly, how do you end the current mission? For example the Main Server has been on that Zargabad Mission for a couple days now but the town is completely overrun with Afghan Soldiers, how would I reset the mission or choose a new one?
Is phase 3 tonight or Monday?

Well, my PWS seems as if it does not want to respond… it stops updating at 99.3%. The download speed is extremely slow, so I hope that I did not miss phase 3 tonight…. I am still trying to get it to work. Sigh…… :/
