Scheduled for Sunday 1 September 2019
1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 07:09L
Lighting: Early morning
Weather: Partly cloudy, dense low-level fog, expected to clear up within the hour.
The Pulau insurgency has had a surge in recent weeks and the government forces have had difficulty containing them.
Zulu-Alpha is deployed with the government forces at FOB Spring in Gurun airfield in order to provide training and support in counter-insurgency operations.
Yesterday, a C130 was fired at as it approached Gurun airfield by a MANPAD somewhere to the West. Having such a threat so close to the airfield is detrimental to operations in the area as it would ground aircraft based there and cut off a vital supply line.
Zulu-Alpha has been tasked with going out and finding and destroying these MANPADs, utilizing our local intelligence assets.
FRAGO: An emergency update to the situation: A US Army CH-47 has just been shot down as it approached FOB Spring carrying supplies and it has crashed somewhere in the Marsh to the East of the airfield. Insurgent forces are expected to approach the crash site and extract intelligence from it and take the wounded prisoner. There are 2 pilots and 3 crew members and statistics show that wounded in this type of crash usually have an average of about 10 minutes before they bleed to death. Since ZA is already preparing for a patrol, you have been tasked with rescuing them and destroying the wreckage.

AO A. Enemy Forces:
The Insurgency is of about company strength spread out throughout the island, with no single large concentrations. They mainly utilize hit and run as well as ambush tactics and have been known to use IEDs. They prefer skirmishes over large engagements and have good low-level commanders allowing them flexibility and short reaction times.

Insurgents They are using Warsaw pact era small arms weapons and some older US imports and are mainly infantry based with at most modified civilian vehicles. They have been known to carry HMGs through the jungle, so be careful.
B. Friendly Forces:
Zulu-Alpha is based in FOB Spring, with its own motor pool with a limited number of vehicles, field hospital and re-supply crates. The FOB and airfield are guarded by Government forces. They do have a patrol that will be operating in the area, so check for friendly fire.
