1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 6:30hrs

Weather: Clear, Unlimited Visibility.
Bozcaada is steeped in a drug war, where the Merkez Cartel, controlling 65% of the drug trade in the Mediterranean has amassed significant cash reserves, which it is using to wage war with the government.
The in an attempt to gain leverage in negotiations with the Bozcaada government and force them to the table, the Merkez Cartel has kidnapped the vice minister of justice, Eduardo Sandoval, a presidential candidate, Cesar Gaviria and the CIA station chief of Bozcaada, Bill Stechner. Because a US operative has been captured, the US now has an excuse to become more actively involved in the drug war on Bozcaada to rescue the US citizen.
The Bozcaada government has given clearance to US forces to conduct low-intensity operations with special forces a limited number of aircraft.

Eduardo Sandoval A. Enemy Forces: The home territory of the Merkez Cartel is called the Briar Patch, an area that is approximately 6.6Km^2 and the source of much of their drug production. A safe house known by the Bozcaada police is located in the Briar patch and is where the hostages are expected to be.
The Merkez Cartel are armed with high-quality weapons from the open market and trained by Israeli and South African instructors and are very well paid. They have civilian vehicles and helicopters, which may be retrofitted with weapons.
At last count, there are approximately 100 Merkez Cartel operatives in the Briar Patch.
After the US involvement was made known to the Cartel, they may have managed to purchase a single ZSU-35 Tigris from the black market (possibly from Syria), as sightings of the vehicle have been reported in the Briar patch, where it was seen patrolling.
Safe House B. Friendly Forces: The USS Freedom has entered the Theatre, carrying Ranger Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon into the combat area.
The Bozcaada police force has taken heavy casualties and doesn’t have enough confidence to move into the Briar Patch and so will not be expected to assist.

Other friendly forces: Police are stationed in the Police base, North East of the Briar Patch.
C. Civilian Presence: There is a high concentration of civilians in the Briar Patch. They are tired of the war and are not expected to be sympathetic to either side.
2. Mission
- Rescue the vice minister of justice, Eduardo Sandoval, a presidential candidate, Cesar Gaviria and the CIA station chief of Bozcaada, Bill Stechner from the Merkez Cartel.
3. Execution
- Avoid traversing the Briar Patch wherever possible, as heavy contact is highly probable.
- Minimize civilian loss of life
- Attempt to locate or destroy the ZSU-35 before committing any manned aircraft to fly over the Briar patch.
- Search the Safe House for any intel that may assist us in combating the Cartel in future missions.
