Description:
1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 00h00 hrs (Any mission time during the next 24 hours can be chosen)
Lighting: 3/4 Moon
Weather: Clear sky, Unlimited visibility.
The Sahrani Liberation Army (SLA) has arrested all Western foreign nationals throughout North Sahrani as part of their campaign of tightening their control over the country and the suppression of all dissidents and NGOs. About 25 of those foreign nationals have been tracked to the prisoner camp at the North Eastern end of Sarhani, located on a peninsula. NATO command has cleared an operation to rescue the civilians as their ongoing imprisonment is seen as justification for violent action.
Op Goshawk Theatre A. Enemy Forces: The SLA is using their militia force to act as a garrison for the prison camp, of about platoon strength, with a prison commander from the regular army with a special forces personal protection detail. The camp is expected to be covered by at least one DShK, regular militia patrols, an outer perimeter of guard posts and a mined perimeter fence. However the militia has no other heavy armaments at the camp and has minimal training and equipment. There are possible squad sized motorized militia QRFs in the wilderness that could react in as little as 10 minutes, however the greatest threat is a well equipped and trained regular SLA mechanized Platoon (3x BMPs) located at the military base of Pesadas, 2Km South of the camp, who are expected to be able to mobilize in about an hour from the alarm being raised.
Enemy occupied territory is marked by the red border. The bulk of SLA forces is located in the area marked “No go zone”.
Op Goshawk AO The prison camp is separated into 3 main blocks, a Garrison block, which has a garrison office, a Vehicle block that acts as a motor pool and FARP and the prisoner block, that should house the majority of the prisoners when they are not working. There is also a mine to the east of the camp where the SLA are using the prisoners as forced labor and there are always several prisoners working there at any given time under guard. There is a commander’s residence to the South East of the camp, where the camp commander spends most of his time.

Op Goshawk Prison Camp (12 hours old) B. Friendly Forces: NATO has tasked Ranger Zulu Company, Alpha platoon with the mission and the US Marines with supporting with aerial and naval assets.
1) Equipment: Standard NATO equipment at start, with diving equipment located near the boats
2) Surveillance: Micro UAV
3) Ground Vehicles: 4x HMMWV SOV, 2x HMMWV TOW, 2x MTVR
4) Fixed Wing: 1x F-35B Lightning II (LGB), 1x C-130J, 1x C-130J (VIV)
5) Rotary Wing: 1x CH-53E Super Stallion, 1x CH-53E Super Stallion (VIV), 1x UH-1Y Venom Gunship
6) Naval: 3x Speedboat, 2x SDV
Other friendly forces: None.
C. Civilian Presence: There are no civilian towns in the AO and as such no expected civilian presence.
2. Mission
- Rescue all prisoners in the prison camp and it it’s vicinity (including the mine)
- Gather any intelligence documents you may find. These are expected to be in the Garrison Office
3. Execution
- Any hour in the next 24 hours (00h00 to 23h59) may be chosen for the operation.
- Command intends a surgical strike at the AO only, therefore do not enter North Sahrani via the ground route (via Corazol) and do not enter the are marked “No go zone”.
- Conduct a naval or airborne operation (or a combination of both) as you see fit, with minimal casualties.
