    • Task org. – From the LZ, Alpha-1 will assault SH-S, Bravo-1 will assault SH-C and Alpha-2 will assault SH-N. Then these 3 teams will RV at the LZ for extraction. Anvil will handle insertion and extraction to and from the LZ, with Romeo in Reserve. Bravo-2 will insert before the assault phase to observe the target area and provide over-watch and observation during the assault.

    D. Ground Brief Orientation

    • Map familiarization – Neri Suburb is a moderately dense suburban area spanning about 1Km across with a dense central area on it’s east end stationed on high ground. The suburb has a coast line along Neri bay and is surrounded by dominating Mountain ranges to its North East and South with several road ways leading into the suburb.

    • Enemy – The enemy may use some of those mountains to control the macro terrain and holds the majority of their forces in Kavala, which secures the Northern Flank.

    • Friendly – There are no neighboring friendly forces present. The boundary for this operation is South Eastern Altis, focused on Neri Suburb.

OP Trident - OPORD - Map
OP Trident – OPORD – Map

    1. Situation

    A. Enemy Forces

    • Strengths – About 2 Troops defending Neri Valley, with another in reserve at Kavala

    • Locations – About 8 guards at each Safe House, with 16 to 24 men spread out in the suburb and 3 sections of men patrolling the hills surrounding the suburb and at least 2 technicals on those hills. A reinforced motorized Troop is holding at Kavala, with their exact location unknown.

    • Weapons – Small arms with some .50 cal CSW technicals.

    • Equipment – Technicals, Truck transport and possible armed patrol boats.

    • Obstacles – No known barricades or mines.

    • Defensive fire positions – The hills over-watching Neri suburb and possible positions in Kavala

    • Air threat – None

    • Artillery Support – None

    • Likely intentions and reactions – The reserve reinforced motorized troop in Kavala will mobilize to reinforce the Neri suburb defenders, which should take approximately 10 minutes.

    B. Friendly Forces

    • BattleGroup commanders intent – eliminate the CSAT liaison Officer located in one of the 3 Safe Houses without engaging the main GNF forces from Kavala, with minimal friendly losses, no civilian casualties and minimal collateral damage to the surrounding buildings and infrastructure.

    • Outline fire support plan – No fire support

    • Attachments or detachments – None.

    C. Civilian Population

    • A moderate population in Neri Suburb with vehicles, as well as fishing boats operating in the area.

    2. Mission

    • To eliminate the HVT (CSAT liaison officer) in order to prevent further weapons shipments to the GNF.

    3. Execution

    A. Concept of Operations

    • C.O’s Intent – To quickly and simultaneously search each Safe House and eliminate the HVT on sight and quickly extract before enemy reinforcements become involved.

    • Scheme of maneuver – B2 will insert at H-10 minutes via submarine for observational and intelligence purposes and later to support the assaulting element with CSW and ATGM fire support. Anvil will then transport the assaulting element of A1, A2 and B1 and Romeo via 2 assault boats at H+15 minutes and reach the FUP West of Neri Bay by H+25 minutes, completing the preliminary phase and start the assault phase. Then Anvil will promptly proceed to LZ and drop off the assault element, which will commence at D-time, which will be at approximately H+30 minutes. During the assault, Anvil will stay at the LZ in the two Assault boats and B2 will provide Fire support and Romeo will stay at the LZ in reserve. The assault Phase should be completed by D+12 minutes, by which time the assault element should be back on-board the boats along with Romeo and extracting back to the FUP. B2 will then also extract back to the FUP via their submarine.

    • Main Effort – Anvil will transport and then provide fire support to the assault element along with B2. A1, A2 and B1 (the assault element) will directly assault their respective Safe Houses, kill the HVT on sight and move back to the LZ where Anvil will be waiting to extract them. Romeo will stay in reserve with Anvil to directly support the Assault element as needed.

    B. Mission Statements

    • Alpha-1 – Get to assault boats near A&C Airfield by H+15. Once transported to the LZ, move to SH-S by D+5mins. Complete Assault of SH-S by D+8mins. Move back to LZ and be ready for extraction by D+12mins. Avoid any unnecessary enemy contact.

    • Alpha-2 – Get to assault boats near A&C Airfield by H+15. Once transported to the LZ, move to SH-N by D+5mins. Complete Assault of SH-N by D+8mins. Move back to LZ and be ready for extraction by D+12mins. Avoid any unnecessary enemy contact.

    • Bravo-1 – Get to assault boats near A&C Airfield by H+15. Once transported to the LZ, move to SH-C by D+5mins. Complete Assault of SH-C by D+8mins. Move back to LZ and be ready for extraction by D+12mins. Avoid any unnecessary enemy contact.

    • Anvil – Transport via 2 Assault boats, A1, A2, B2 and Romeo from A&C Airfield via boats by H+15 to the FUP by H+25. Drop off A1, A2, B2 and Romeo at the LZ by H+30 / D+0. Provide fire support using the assault boats during assault phase and engage any enemy sightings or contacts that may interfere with the mission. Once A1, A2 and B2 return to the LZ, Extract them and Romeo back to the FUP ASAP.

    • Bravo-2 – Get to B2 OP by H-10 using submarine transport. Stay hidden, observe and provide intelligence during the preliminary phase. At the Assault Phase (H+25 to H+42 (or extraction of the assault force, whichever comes first)) provide fire support using a CSW and Titan missile launcher and engage any enemy contacts or sightings that may interfere with the mission. Then Extract via the submarine to the FUP.

    • Romeo – Get to assault boats near A&C Airfield by H+15. Once transported to the LZ, Disembark and provide security for Anvil. Be prepared to directly support one of the assaulting elements as needed. Move back to LZ and be ready for extraction by D+12mins and if not supporting an assaulting element.

    • Summary – B2 must be at their OP well in advance of the assault to provide intelligence and later fire support. Anvil will transport everyone else to the LZ by H+30/D+0. A1, A2, B1 will assault their SHs with Romeo ready to support and be all back at the LZ by H+42/D+12. Then everyone, including B2 will extract to the FUP in order to end the mission.

    C. Coordinating instructions

    • Timings – H Hour is mission start time for majority of players (usually 20:30 ZA time). B2 must be at OP by H-20 mins (Start of Preliminary Phase). Anvil, A1, A2, B1 and Romeo kitted up and on assault boats by H+15 mins. Boats at FUP by H+25 mins (End of preliminary phase and start of assault Phase). Boats at LZ by H+30 mins. D time starts. Assault done at H+42 mins / D+12 mins and all forces extract via their respective transports and move back to the FUP. Mission ends when all forces accounted for at the FUP (approximately H+47 mins).

    • Preliminary Moves – A1, A2, B1, Anvil and Romeo kitted up and at boats by H+15 mins. B2 at B2 OP by H-10 mins

    • Re-Org Instructions – Boats or subs that are separated, meet up at FUP. Any assault elements that are lost or separated during Assault phase, regroup at LZ.

    • Actions-on:
    • Enemy Boat Contact – B2 avoids. Anvil focuses fire of assault boats on target and overwhelms.
    • Boats Separated – Before H+25 and After H+42 regroup at FUP. After H+25 but before H+42 regroup at LZ.
    • Strong Resistance at SH – Call for Romeo, Fire support from Anvil or B2, or abort and fall back to LZ.
    • Communications failure – Find someone to relay message, or use text chat.

    4. Service Support

    • Kit requirements – Load-out for CQB and rapid movement for A1, A2, B1 and Romeo. For B2; CSW (HMG), Titan missile launcher with extra ammunition and long range small arms effective out to at least 1Km.

    • CASEVAC – Move casualty to nearest transport for extraction by D+12. If assault element has the casualty, then Romeo can collect and move the casualty to the LZ if needed.

    • Other Logistics – Extra ammunition and medical supplies to be stored in two trucks at start, which will in turn have their cargo loaded into the two boats by Anvil before setting off. Therefore during the Operation, the Anvil will carry extra ammunition and medical supplies in their boats at the LZ. Romeo can deliver to assault elements if needed. B2 can use their submarine as storage for extra supplies if needed.

    TASK #1 DETAIL
    ———————————

    Description:

Insert Over-watch team west of Neri Suburb, then assault the 3 safe houses simultaneously and kill the HVT

    Completion Status:
    100%
    Comments:
The FUP was reached by the assault boats on time, with D-time starting early at H+25. The over-watch element only got to B2 OP by H+24, but was still able to provide very effective fire support. B1 assaulted, found and killed the HVT at SH-C at D+5 and managed to move back to the LZ at D+7. A2 assaulted SH-N at D+5 but received heavy casualties in CQC there and received 2 KiA, with one possibly being a result of fratricide. A2 began extracting to the LZ once B1 announced HVT death and reached the LZ by D+9. SH-S was never assaulted due to A1 not being present in sufficient force. The plan was that B1 would move to SH-S after SH-C if the HVT wasn’t found by then.

    TASK #2 DETAIL
    ———————————

    Description:

Extract all elements out of the Combat Area.

    Completion Status:
    100%
    Comments:
All teams was ready to extract by D+9/H+31, however the original plan was abandoned, due to both assault boats being beached. Anvil, Romeo, A2 and B1 (all elements at LZ) began moving to new RP at 062-104, reference SE of Panachori, initially leaving the Combat area by moving South along the coast from the LZ. Anvil actual was wounded while regrouping at the end of a building complex at the Southern end of Neri Bay and organizing the destruction of the beached assault boats. Only one of the boats was destroyed due to ammo shortage of Titan missiles. Around this time, B2 extracted via their sub after providing over-watch to the assault elements. B2’s sub ran out of fuel and made land fall at Panachori bay and rendezvoused with the rest of the friendly forces there and then destroyed the sub with an anti-material rifle. All friendly forces then reached the RP.

    ———————————
    ADDITIONAL DETAIL
    ———————————
    Comments:

B2 started late, due to B2 lead not being part of the O-group and therefore special requirements not being communicated to B2 lead. The sub is not an effective vehicle for long range insertion due to its very poor speed and low range. The assault boats are very effective and getting to a beach landing, but not for the landing itself, as the boats becomes beached at the slightest contact with the coast.

B2 was not able to deploy any CSW due to equipment malfunctions, so therefore substituted the CSW with an anti-material rifle for its range. Neither boats or the sub was able to carry any extra ammunition or supplies, so therefore all friendly elements carried as much ammo and supplies as possible due to the lack of resupply opportunites.

    Suggested changes:
If silent early naval insertion is required over long range, an alternative method is to use a rapid transport such as an assault boat or helocast near the coast, then swim the rest of the way. A new SOP for a beach assault for the assault boats should restrict the boats from going no closer to the beach than 10m. This still allows the passengers at most beaches to start walking on disembarkation but without risking beaching the boat.
