1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 16:30 hrs

With the success of Operation Weedkiller in interrupting the Altis Cartels ability to store, transport and distribute narcotics SAPS Intelligence have already noted an increase in the street value of narcotics back in South Africa. This proves the effectiveness of Zulu-Alpha D-Troops intervention on the island of Altis.

Despite the unfortunate death of several civilians during the assault on the airstrip, Zulu-Alpha has received local intelligence that the cartel is planning a punitive raid against ZA and to this end has employed the services of arms smugglers to bring in more advanced weaponry including MANPADS and AT.

The focus of Operation PoppyKiller is to search for and destroy the advanced weaponry brought in by the cartel as well as any troops and support vehicles that are found in the AO.

A. Enemy Forces: As with Operation Weedkiller the local cartel employs irregular infantry armed with small arms and LMGs, we expect that the cartel foot soldiers will not have had enough time to unpack the new, more advanced weapons that they have bought. However sources have informed ZA intelligence that the MANPADS were brought in directly after Operation Weedkiller and that there are at least three cartel lieutenants that have undergone the training necessary to operate these systems.

Cartel foot soldier numbers are still high and it is expected that they will be near Company strength in the AO.

While it is not an official QRF there is a Cartel patrol of sorts at the town of Therisa that is expected to react to any assault on Cartel forces. As they are not a trained military force it is expected that it will take them in the region of 20 minutes to mount up and then 15 minutes to arrive in the area of operation. This patrol is made of 4 technicals and three SUV’s, each with at least 4 foot soldier on board.

and have moved the weapons crates to containers at a nearby church.

There is also a nearby farmstead where foot soldiers can be found which may prove to be a good target of opportunity.

A source on the ground has report that the Cartel Boss, Christakis Pavli, is present at a house inside the AO and is overseeing the distribution of the new weapons.

This is too good an opportunity to miss as it is believed that the Cartel will not survive the infighting that will result from the removing of its head. This intel has been verified by recon drone.

While this intelligence is several hours old, foot soldier numbers at the house have not decreased leading us to believe that Pavli is still present.

 

B.Friendly Forces:  Zulu-Alpha: D-Troop is located at the main airfield in the centre of Atlis. You have access to the full assortment of Small arms and light UAV’s.

2. Mission

Your teams primary objective is to insert into the area of operation, assault the smugglers LZ and the nearby fortifications, destroying whatever weapons caches are found and neutralising any opposition.

You secondary objective is to capture Christakis Pavli.

 

3. Execution

The CO must proceed as he/she sees fit.

4. Service and Support

A. SUPPORT UNITS

1) Artillery: None, due to the depth of the target behind enemy lines.

2) Aviation: 2 x UH-80, 2 x MH-9, 1 x AH-9

3) Vehicles: 2 x Hunter HMG, 2 x HEMTT Transports

B. MEDICAL SUPPORT

There is a medical building at the Zulu-Alpha staging area at the airbase. Medivac and casualty collection SOP to be determined by the CO.
