OPERATION RIGHTEOUS BROTHER

Description:

1. SITUATION

With the increasing instability due to the PRPM’s power-play and Taito Sitven’s inability to reconcile the radical platform of the PRP with the realities of Tanoa’s situation, Command as decided upon an exit strategy. A secret agreement as been reached with the Tanoan Army leadership, where we recognize that the Tanoan Army is the only party that can lead a stable and effective government, in exchange for the release of all US prisoners and the eventual restoration of favorable but moderated trade conditions with the US.

This agreement must still be kept secret as it would be a unpopular for people both both in Tanoa, due to the lack of prosecution of US citizens and at home, as the Tanoan Army is unlikely to establish a democratic government and so the US government does not want to be seen fully supporting it in public.

To this end, the Tanoan Army will help us locate and rescue US prisoners under PRPM control and release the rest at a later date.

The PRPM home island is the South Western island and they are still in control of it. PRPM forces have started attacking the town of Katkoula yesterday, trying to remove elements of the Tanoan Army’s 2nd Motorised Infantry that has been garrisoning the town for a while now and holding off the PRPM since the beginning of hostilities with them. The Tanoan Army has now decided that it will launch a counter offensive in order to take the island from the PRPM and strike a blow at it’s public image. This is a joint operation with the Tanoan Army, as this is also the island where the PRPM is keeping all their US prisoners. While the Tanoan Army holds Katkoula and occupies the PRPM from the East, Ranges from Zulu company will attempt a rescue of US prisoners. Who are expected to be located in camps in the Southern and Western part of the island, including the airstrip of Bala (objective Able).

In addition to US prisoners, a Tanoan Army officer is also being held captive by the PRPM. His name is Johannes Bakker and the Tanoan Army has requested that we also rescue him, which we agreed to as he will likely be among the US prisoners.

A. Enemy Forces

Around 23h00 the PRPM renewed their offensive of Katkoula. Infantry started advancing on the town and have surrounded the area  while being supported by mortar fire from a nearby hill. At 0400, mortar fire has stopped as Tanoan Special forces have captured and secured the village where the mortar teams camp was, now marked as LZ dagger. In the processes they rescued an American. Chris Jackson, who reported seeing three other Americans and one Tanoan Army Officer being moved our of camp (the liberated LZ Dagger) in a truck. Other local intelligence report that they have possibly been moved to either the Bala Airstrip or less likely, the camp identified by Tanoan Army special forces at OBJ Cain.

Ranger Zulu company has been tasked with clearing objectives Cain and Able in order to find and rescue the prisoners and destroy targets of opportunity, such as weapons, equipment and ammo.

B. Friendly Forces

Friendly forces are stationed at FOB Crusade. Tanoan Army 2nd Motorized Infantry are operating North in the Town of Katkoula.

Due to the earlier loss of the Harrier and the resulting complete lack of CAS assets, we converted one of the MH-6Ms to a AH-6M configuration.

1) Equipment: Standard NATO equipment at start.

2) Surveillance: None

3) Ground Vehicles: 3x Armed Prowler, 4x unarmed Prowler, 3x HEMMT (Ammo, Repair, Fuel)

4) Fixed Wing: None

5) Rotary Wing: 1 x V-44 Vehicle Transport, 1x V-22 Infantry transport, 1x UH-80, 1x MH6-M, 1x AH-6M

6) Naval: 3x Assault Boats

2. Mission

1. Find and rescue the prisoners
   1. Chris Jackson is already secured at LZ Dagger.
2. Secure objectives Cain and Able
3. Destroy targets of opportunity
   1. Particularly Weapons, equipment and ammo located at the camps.

3. Execution

CO can use LZ Dagger as the LZ, as earlier operations by the Tanoan Army Special Forces has secured the village for an FOB.  The CO may then proceed as they see fit to Objective Cain and Abel
