1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 6 January 2004 at 15:30.

Lighting: Late afternoon, dusk at 18:00.

Weather: 35°C, clear skies, no wind, and high humidity.

Situation: 

Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon is part of the U.N. peacekeepers stationed in Liberia after it signed a peace agreement ending the 2nd civil war since it started in 1989. Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon is stationed in Liberia to ensure that the peace agreement is upheld, along with U.N. peacekeeper nations. The primary focus of Z.A. stationed in Liberia is winning the hearts and minds of the local population to ensure stability and reduce the remaining militia.

The U.N. received intel however that there was a town in central Kujari which has taken more than 30 people as hostages. The reports include the accusations that the militia group beating, raping, and assaulting the hostages. Z.A. is therefore tasked to immediately assault the town of Gajaji Mastafa, save the hostages and clear out or capture any remaining militia forces. The hostages’ safety is the highest priority; therefore, the R.O.E is to secure the camp by only firing when fired upon.

Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon has been inserted into Dr Jones Airfield by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and will be the base ground for kitting up and moving onto the objective.

Terrain:

The terrain around the town has good tree cover with loads of dead ground around, and in some places, there is open ground, small farmlands can be found between the huts. The main river flowing through Kujari flows to the south of the objective and will need to be crossed first.

A. Enemy Forces:

Local militia group patrols and have camps around the area while the groups’ intent with the U.N. is unclear and not a lot is known about the group.

B. Friendly Forces:

Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon is stationed at Dr Jones Airfield.
