    Keymaster

Scheduled for Sunday 20 August 2023

    1. SITUATION

    Situation Time: 18:00L 14 August 2023

    Lighting: Dark, Sunset, sundown 19:15

    Weather: Clear skies, Unlimited visibility.

A shipment of 10x FIM-92 Stingers to Iraqi police forces has been hijacked, stolen, and moved to an ISIS hotbed of activity.

This new capability is a major threat to coalition and civilian aircraft, but there is also a significant risk of proliferation to international terror groups.

Fortunately, the crates that contained the shipments had secret tracking devices installed in them just for this eventuality, and there is no indication that ISIS knows about this.

Zulu Company, Alpha platoon, has been tasked with locating, recovering, or if unable to, destroy the stolen MANPADs.

    A. Enemy Forces:

ISIS forces have control of the area North and West of the canal system North West of Al-Basrah, which is a fertile area with many separate compounds and villages. ISIS is expected to occupy most of these villages and compounds.

One of the MANPAD crates has been sighted by an informant being driven into the area, separate from the others, therefore it is expected that the 3 crates will be kept in separate parts of the AO, and hidden in buildings, and not necessarily kept in the vehicles that transported them there.

ISIS forces have technical (including armoured technicals), small arms, RPGs HMGs, and ZSU-23s. In addition to the MANPAD threat, the latter threat denies operations of low-flying aircraft.

There are no external reinforcements expected in reaction to an operation in the area, however, enemy forces in the compounds and villages are expected to be mutually supporting and may counter-attack from nearby compounds and villages.

    B. Friendly Forces:

Zulu-Alpha is situated at Al-Zubair Air Base in the North, along with Reaper and their Strykers

    2. Mission

    1. Locate, recover or if unable to, destroy the stolen MANPADs.
    2. Avoid civilian casualties and collateral damage.

    3. General Instructions

Use the spectrum device to find the MANPAD creates, but do not neglect to collect MANPADs from deceased combatants, as not all of the MANPADs are expected to remain in their crates, and may be used in this operation by ISIS.

    4. Specific Instructions

The spectrum device is expected to have a range of about 1 Km for the signal strength of the tracking devices, and it must be pointed in the direction of the signal source. The frequency of the tracking devices is 910 MHz. The spectrum device is configured for a 100 MHz frequency band, centred at 900 MHz, and other radio transmissions in that band will also be detected if close enough.
