1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 16H30L 6 October 2015
Lighting: Late afternoon, sunset at17h42
Weather: clear, Some clouds.
The Republic of Yulakia bears the scars of a bitter decade-long conflict that ravaged the nation in the 1990s. Fueled by political unrest and ethnic tensions, the war tore through the fabric of Yulakian society, leaving a legacy of division and distrust in its wake. The conflict culminated in the division of the nation along the winding course of the Mazovka River, with the eastern territories falling under the influence of Russia, while the western regions aligned with the Western Nations. Citizens are free to cross between the west and the east.
Yulakia With the recent war in Ukraine tension between the west and east of Yulakia have been increasing leading to small incidents of violence. Zulu-Alpha is part of western forces put in place in Yulakia as a deterrent to eastern separatist wishing to start an uprising.
Three days ago a group of Russian separatists took control of the nuclear power plant that supplies power to all of western Yulakia. They demand the abdication of President Vissim I. Dokolenko and that Russian rule be instated in all of Yulakia. If their demands are not met by midnight, they will blow up the 2 working cooling towers of the plant resulting in an inevitable shutdown of the plant leaving the west without any power. With only an hour left before the deadline expires, Zulu-Alpha has been tasked by command to resolve the situation.
Area Map AO Power Plant A. Enemy Forces:
The separatists have taken control of the nuclear plant with a small number of well trained infantry of which some, most likely elevated lookouts, have night vision equipment. They have blocked all road access to the plant by blowing up a number of vehicles in the tunnel coming from the west and blockading the bridge from the east with troops and armored light technicals. They may have additional forces stationed nearby in the event of an attack on the plant. In the days leading up to the deadline, local military observers noticed the separatist laying down hundreds of AP mines around the perimeter of the plant.
Blockaded bridge blocked tunnel The leader of the separatists is only known as “Boss”, a fanatic who believes himself to be a scientist and as such is always seen wearing a lab coat. Boss is known to be unstable and in the event of thing not going his way he may be crazy enough to detonate the explosives in person.
