1. SITUATION
Situation Time: October 16, 2020, 05h10L
Lighting: Pre-dawn, Sunrise at 06h20L
Weather: Partly cloudy, unlimited visibility.Chernarussian separatists have seized the airbase in the region, along with some aircraft and equipment that the government could not evacuate before they lost the base. The government is stretched thin and does not have the resources to re-take the airbase at this time, so it has requested assistance from the US.
Zulu company Alpha platoon is on standby aboard the USS Freedom, whose carrier group is stationed off the coast of Chernarus. The operation is already underway, with a recognisance element of ZA deployed 48 hours in advance of the main effort.

Theater A. Enemy Forces:
The separatists mainly consist of light, a motorized infantry company, with light support of mechanized elements. They do, however, have a disproportionately large arsenal of MANPADs, which they have used to establish a low-altitude air defence umbrella, which is what allowed them to mitigate the air superiority advantage of the government forces and capture the airbase.

Igla pod They also have AAAs to supplement their MANPADS, though only of the static variety (ZU-23s).
Due to this specific anti-air threat, command advised not to fly below 4000m, as that is the maximum effective altitude that MANPADs can engage at.
The separatists fortified their position at the airbase and deployed garrisons to the surrounding towns to provide a buffer defence and regular patrols.

AO The separatists are expected to attempt to recapture the airbase, particularly if the most important ATC portion of it is lost.

Aerial view of Airbase B. Friendly Forces:
Zulu Company, Alpha platoon’s main force is aboard the USS Freedom off the South East coast of Chernarus. Dragon’4 has infiltrated and is halted at their overnight patrol base, just outside the PLOC (Probably line of contact) and is ready to conduct detailed surveillance and selection of a Drop Zone.

Dragon’4 Patrol base The USS Freedom has an osprey to allow para-dropping of the rest of Zulu-Alpha and 2x F/A-181s on standby for CAS.
