Operation Skinny Dip

Description:

1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 03h00 hrs

Lighting: Full Moon. First light at 03h10

Weather: Fog limiting visibility to 1Km. Forecast uncertain as to whether it will lift or not

The populace of North Western Nogova has began openly protesting the occupation of the  Sahrani Liberation Army (SLA). Last night the SLA has begun cracking down on the protests, escalating the situation into a full scale uprising. Liberating Nogova is in US interests, but our forces have only been authorized to conduct humanitarian special forces operations (i.e extraction of civilians and prevention of atrocities), with major boots on the grounds or a no fly zone not yet authorized.

Several hours ago, Intelligence intercepted a communication from SLA command, ordering a T-72 tank company (9 tanks) based in the town of Lipany to move to North Western Nogova in order to suppress the uprising. Intelligence estimates that this action will be catastrophic for the uprising. The tank company will leave any time now and is expected to travel along MSR Thing and cross the bridge at Davle (OBJ Bikini). Command has ordered this bridge be destroyed, with the destruction of some of the tanks in the process being a secondary objective, in order to delay the Tank company and reroute it to the mountains to the North, where the uprising, with support and training from the US Special forces could have a greater chance of the defeating the tank company.

A. Enemy Forces: Expect the mainland to be wholly occupied by SLA forces. The SLA have at least one KA-50 gunship available for support in the theater, based in the town of Lipany. The AO surrounding OBJ Bikini has prepared defenses in the form of road blocks on both sides and are occupying both sides of dominating terrain overlooking the bridge. Enemy numbers are expected to be low with only a few fire teams guarding the objective, but there are long distance patrols that can react to an attack. Traffic along the MSR is also expected to be low until the Tank company arrives. The river however is well patrolled by the SLA with armed RHIBs.

B. Friendly Forces: Command has tasked Ranger Zulu Company, Alpha platoon with the mission, as you are already situated at COP (Combat Outpost) – Maebari, on an uninhabited island South West of the estuary where OBJ Bikini is.

1) Equipment: Standard NATO equipment at COP along with diving equipment, however due to short notice and lack of mission specialization re-breathers are not available at this time.

3) Ground Vehicles: 1x MTVR

5) Rotary Wing: None

6) Naval: 3x Zodiac, 2x RHIB (Mk19)

Other friendly forces: None.

C. Civilian Presence: Civilians are occupying all local towns and may be hostile to the SLA

2. Mission

1. Destroy objective Bikini in order to delay the SLA tank company from reaching the Western side of Nogova and force them to take the Northern mountain pass.
2. Use the destruction of objective bikini to also destroy some of the tanks.

3. Execution

2. US Army corps of engineers has provided the following advice on how to destroy the bridge. This is acheived by placing the correct number of satchel charges (demolition charge assemblies) in the specified locations:
