Operation Righteous Interdiction

Description:

1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 22:00 hrs

Lighting: Clear sky half moon

Weather: Unlimited visibility.

Earlier today, US forces in cooperation with the Sabau militia, have secured the South East island (Sabau island) and repelled a Tanoan Army counter attack. Command is concerned that denial of an entire island to the Tanoan Army may pressure them into launching a full out assault in order to not seem weak and their most dangerous asset is their battery of 4 MLRSs belonging to their 7th Artillery company. Command has therefore tasked ZA with finding and destroying this battery before they can be used in an offensive on the Sabau and thus also cripple their offensive capabilities, as those MLRSs are their only heavy artillery.

To this end, US forces have been granted permission to perform covert operations on the Tanoan main island and behind enemy lines.

A. Enemy Forces: The 3rd Mechanized Infantry company are on the front line guarding the bridge out of the South East island, with the 2nd Motorized Infantry company spread out in towns throughout the South eastern part of the Main island performing population suppression duties, but could be deployed as a QRF to nearby trouble areas. The 7th Artillery company, which is our primary target are made up of 4 MLRSs and several resupply trucks. The Tanoan Army has used them on occasion on non US forces in other parts of Tanoa and US Artillery radar has determined their movement patterns. They usually fire from one of the 5 areas marked on the map with red circles and as soon as their fire mission is complete, they move to a different firing area (shoot and scoot). It was also determined that they have split up their battery into 2 groups of 2 MLRSs. Therefore, intelligence are certain that there are 2 groups of 2 MLRSs located in 2 of the 5 given areas.

The Tanoan Army are well equipped and trained and so will have night fighting capabilities and should maintain patrols at all times during the night.

 

B. Friendly Forces: Friendly forces are stationed at FOB Furious. All assets relevant to ZA have been been moved off of the LHD-9 and into the FOB.

1) Equipment: Standard NATO equipment at start.

2) Surveillance: Micro UAV

3) Ground Vehicles: 4x Armed Prowler, 4x unarmed Prowler, 3x HEMMT (Ammo, Repair, Fuel)

4) Fixed Wing: None

5) Rotary Wing: 1 x V-44 Vehicle Transport, 1x V-22 Infantry transport, 1x UH-80, 2x MH6-M

6) Naval: 3x RHIB

Other friendly forces: Sabau Control the South Eastern Island and the LHD-9 Provides air protection

C. Civilian Presence: Locals consist of villagers and farmers. All are armed and due to their neutral nature they can be stopped for questioning but under no circumstances are they to be engaged.

 

2. Mission

1. Find and destroy the 4 MLRSs.

3. Execution

1. These batteries are behind enemy lines, therefore a covert mission is highly recommended.
2. They are also deployed in 2 groups of 2 MLRSs and support vehicles.
3. Due to the high readiness and mobile nature of the Tanoan Army, hit and run attacks are recommended to avoid engaging Tanoan Army reinforcements.
