Operation A Bridge Too Far

1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 07h55L

Weather: Clear.

Russian-backed Western Ultranationalists from the Ukraine and Poland have recently started pushing into the Rosche region and building up a force presence. They are believed to be responsible for the recent demolition of all bridges linking the region’s only airport to the rest of Rosche.

Intelligence reports show them taking over local farms and homesteads as temporary strongholds and keeping the farmers hostage to deter any counter attacks by the under-equipped local security forces.
Zulu-Alpha is tasked with clearing the identified farms of all hostiles, destroying any explosives caches, and freeing the farmers.
Under the aid agreement with the Rosche government, no armed gunships can be authorized.
Unarmed rotary-wing assets have been made available, which provides the only means of getting to the target locations while the bridges are still under repair.

A. Enemy Forces:
The enemy forces appear to be concentrated in two locations in the Southern region of Rosche; Hanstedt (Designated: Objective Hotel) and Gross Ellenberg (Designated: Objective Golf).

They appear to number approximately 30 – 50 lightly-armed infantry at each location with unknown support around the region. They do not have armoured or mechanized assets but have been spotted in soft-skinned technicals. They are known to use explosives and IEDs to destroy infrastructure and set ambushes for local security.
Intelligence is confident that they do not have access to air or anti-air assets.

B. Friendly Forces:
Zulu Company, Alpha platoon just arrived via C130 at the airport on the Western edge of Roche.
Several helicopters have been made available for the mission, with the Roche government further providing access to their hangered helicopters at the airport, should the need arise.

2. Mission

A. Perform assaults on the two objectives: Hotel and Golf.
B. Clear the objectives of all hostile forces.
C. Destroy all weapons and explosives caches.
D. Free any hostages.
E. Return to the airport.

3. General Instructions

With all the bridges out, the only means of transport will be via helicopter. The two locations are expected to be fiercely defended, with possible quick reaction forces reacting from the North and East.
