    Mission WARNORD:

    Description:

    1. SITUATION

    Date: 090130 OCT 16

    Time: 01:30hrs

    Lighting: Night

    Weather: Clear

    With our help the Iraqi Army and Peshmerga have now almost encircled the remaining three IS cells South of Mosul. These cells have been somewhat bolstered by other surviving fragmented cells and now number in the order of 200-300 men each.

    A week ago, JSOC received intel from the ISA (Intelligence Support Activity) pertaining to the identity and the approximate location of two of the cell commanders, namely Abdul Harqawi commander of the Kadar Cell and Yusuf Hassad commander of the Abdal Bari Cell. With the assistance of the local SOG team, callsign Omen as well as our own RRC Team (Regimental Reconnaissance Company) callsign Dragon-4 we have pinpointed these HVI’s to the Madrassa at Doran and a multi-story double-complex in Kalaenoowi.

    The Intention is to capture these HVI’s ALIVE with the intention of handing them over to the CIA for interrogation. This will have the combined effect of demoralizing the two cells as well as providing us with intelligence on the structure, composition, disposition and tactics of IS Cells in and around Mosul.

    Dragon-4 Report on HVI 1 

    “We had our hide setup for about three days until Harqawi decided to take a walk on the mosque wall. At first we weren’t sure, but ISA gave him a call to his cell as we held glass on him and sure as hell he answered the call as we were watching.”

    “Directly adjacent to Mosque wall looks clear of IED’s, but it’s impossible to confirm. Some look to be command detonated because Harqawi’s’ bodyguard came out a few times to collect food and water but he still walked a specific pattern, so the rest must be pressure or tripwire”

    “Even if we could navigate the IED’s, we noticed them hardening the place with sandbags and three more DsHKM’s on the bottom floors besides the ones on the roof and surrounding buildings. The roof looks like the only breach point”

    “There’s no QRF we could see, but the adjacent village has at least two squads of fighters and we heard a truck and a technical in the woods North of the target while on exfil”

    SOG Omen Report on HVI 2 

    “As with your other target we had our girl clone Hassad’s sister’s phone while she was shopping and arranged a fake call for him to meet outside the complex so our grab team could snatch him, he was too paranoid to leave but we managed to get him far enough out of the building to confirm his ID and provide a photo.”

    “Lots of IS badguys in the area. The block is laced with IED’s (two kids playing soccer got blown up during the 48hr surveillance) and almost every window is blocked up with sandbags. The target roof had some infantry with RPG’s. It might be tricky for the SOAR dudes, but we measured enough space for a MH6 to land next to the stairwells using the Micro-UAV.  We also noticed one or two Manpads on the adjacent buildings North and South. You guys have your work cut out for you. These dudes looked like they are expecting something”

    A. Enemy Forces:  The Abdal Bari, Abdal Jabbar and Kadar Cells are the only remaining IS units still operational in the Northern Theater. Several mobile AA teams (Manpad and ZSU-23) are still active in the North.

    B. Friendly Forces: Zulu-Alpha is located at the Airbase with their support assets available, including 2x MH-60L DAP’s, AH-64D, AH-6M, MH6’s, CH47I, AV-8B Harrier and Haymaker M119 artillery battery,

    1) Equipment: Full standard loadout including SCAR-H’s

    2) Surveillance: Micro-UAV’s

    3) Ground Vehicles: 2x Transport MTVRs, 1x M2 Stryker, 1x Stryker MEV

    4) Fixed Wing: AV-8B

    5) Rotary Wing: 2x MH60-L DAP, 1x MQ-12 Falcon, 1xAH64D, 1 x AH-6M, 2x CH47I’s, 2x MH6’s.

    6) Naval: None

    Other friendly forces: The IA and Peshmerga have paused and formed a defensive line as they consolidate and commence logistical resupply while Coalition Air assets continue to harass and persecute the remaining IS mobile Anti-Aircraft teams.

    C. Civilian Presence: Most civilians have fled the fighting but there may be some.

    3. Execution

    1. Destroy any active enemy Anti-Aircraft capability and gain air superiority.
    2. Isolate and suppress enemy on and surrounding target objectives with CAS without directly engaging the buildings themselves.
    3. Coordinate insertion and assault of Dragon assault teams onto target objectives.
    4. Find and apprehend HVI’s.
    5. Extract assault teams and HVI’s back to Al-Qayyarah.
