1. SITUATION

Situation Time: 04:45hrs

Weather: Sandstorm, limited visibility

Diyala, Iraq a north-eastern town from Baghdad

Following the dirty bomb detonation last night during Operation Free Iraqi, we expect severe civilian and military casualties in and around Al Baiueia. A 2km no-go radius has been established around ground-zero. The explosion also seems to have generated a low yield EMP which has disabled unshielded complex electronic devices in the area such as CTAB, mobile devices, etc. Radio’s are also severely affected.

S.O.P. for personell stationed at Khan Bani Saad AFB is to move to FOB Al Jaarah for extraction in critical events such as this. Despite the heavy radio interference, radio contact briefly was established with several survivors, who were in the town of Rasheed when they came into contact with enemy. No further communications have since been established.

You represent a secondary deployment of U.S. forces at FOB Ishaqi in the SW of the AO with the primary mission of locating and extracting any survivors.

A. Enemy Forces: ISIS militants with light skin technicals at key areas, IED’s, VBIED’s etc.

B. Friendly Forces: Survivors of US Marines and Zulu-Alpha

1) Equipment: Standard Equipment with the exception of disabled electronics

2) Surveillance: None

3) Ground Vehicles: 1x STRYKER (M2) , 3x Armed HMMWV, 1x Non-Armed HMMWV, 1 x Medical HMMWV, 1 x MTVR Transport Truck

4) Fixed Wing: None

5) Rotary Wing: 1 x UH60-MEV, 1 x CH-49, 1 x AH-64 – High risk atmospheric conditions. Flights are grounded!

Other friendly forces: None

C. Civilian Presence:  Unknown. Most likely left the area following the explosion.
