Hi guys
I’ve just picked up the game for a good price on G2A.com with all the packs. Hoping there is enough local life in this game to make good use of it. Looking to get involved in some fun games with some cool people here. Have played other FPS games for a long time.
A few questions if I may?:
– What times do you play? I know there is training on Tuesday and Sessions another day. But do you also play semi-casually as well on other days, or it only at these organized times?
– How busy are the local servers generally? How many servers with how many people on an average night?
– How is the game when played overseas? I get around 170-180ms ping to Europe, I’m wondering how playable it will be, particularly for shooting?Cheers!

Welcome to Zulu-Alpha!
You’ll be glad to know that there are a few large and active South African Arma 3 communities! And the communities are also quite diverse. You can jump onto Arma 3’s server browser and find active servers for Arma 3 Exile, Arma 3 Life, KotH, casual milsim and more serious milsim. Search for the Arma 3 South Africa group on Facebook and you will find a forum for the most active communities.
As for your questions, yes, we train on Tuesdays and have our closed missions on Sundays. We also often play casual/open games on Thursdays. The ZA group is also quite diverse and our members also often play other games together such as DCS or Project Cars.
Local servers vary greatly, we average 12 – 15 in our operations.
We have played in several overseas joint operations such as ATC, and I have personally played on several open international servers such as Arma 3 MACE, TacBF and Official Zeus and the game is very playable at latencies up to 250ms.
You can’t go wrong with Arma, my only warning is once it hooks you, the rest of your game library starts to gather dust… 😛
If you want to know more about ZA have a look here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jITQcjxLl4gVQDDV_DTHsXeYTqrmP617aZFQFhVpGjw
If there’s anything else you want to know just post here and we’ll be glad to assist.
