Hello Everyone. I was thinking a lot about what I did wrong and key areas that I could have done better in. If you guys want to we can use this thread to specify where you think you made mistakes. Then in a way we could help each other or we could create our own training mission for phase 2 or something. Only if you guys think It’ll be a good idea.
Where I messed up was: 1) not making sure that I have the right co-ordinates; 2) Taking an extra med-kit when I had to treat the civilian => which caused that I couldn’t pick up the green smoke. 3) Pacing. At a stage I was running-stop-running-stop, i’ll have to manage my fatigue better.
Good luck to all for phase 2 and thank you to all the DS officers that hepled us through the selection and thank you Pheonix for creating the fun and challenging map. Let me know if you are keen for a training/practice session for phase 2.
July 1, 2014 at 08:13 #4089I battled with just the map reading. When we had to heal that civilian, I made a circle next to my checklist to remember to pick it back up.
Was good fun though, thanks guys.
July 1, 2014 at 10:25 #4090The shooting of civilians is against the geneva convention…….. tusk tusk “Raven” 🙂
I dropped my explosive charge by accident at cone 6 and could not pick it up – that did get the DS members out of the house :). But not to worry they followed me by car hooting……
on a serious note this was a good map exercise and was most important to find a land mark and track from there. I did not take the time to read the instructions properly was rushing
PS: I want to apologise to yster that I got him in trouble I was the slow one and he caught up to me.
Good fun had by all thanks again for the huge effort that the DS team put into this. It’s not often you find a group of people will to invest so much time and think it’s only right we reciprocate.
July 1, 2014 at 11:07 #4092Hey guys think this thread is a good idea, as it is always good to identify where you think you went wrong and then take the effort to improve that aspect.
Attention to detail is vitally important and rushing will more than often will get you killed, so take your time, make notes (a lot of us have notepads on our desks that we use) and pay attention when given orders or instructions.
RE Map reading it does come with time and practice.
July 1, 2014 at 13:13 #4093Thanks for the Feedback. I’m open all week so let me know if you guys want to do a mission sometime, then we could maybe work on the map reading 😉
July 1, 2014 at 13:43 #4095I screwed up on the first crate. I memorised the message instead of writing it down and i didnt judge the distance on the map so i overshot the target area. Thats where i lost 30min as i had to track back to base to get the mission again. I learned how to heal people propperly and how to use the medic system that was the other upset for me other than that following the orders was easy and once i got the map marking was easy to get used to. I pre plotted all the marks on the map as i got them and used the Compass on the map to judge direction which speed things up quite a bit.
July 3, 2014 at 19:10 #4121I struggled to run up a damn hill. I need to start doing some more PT. fitness mod anyone?
One thing that will make map work much easier is the ability to draw lines on the map using a protractor. Does anyone know if this is possible?
