I would really like to play Arma 3 there is not a huge local community and the little co op I have played has been really fun

Welcome, best place to start is probably by getting Play With Six, if you don’t have it already, and then hooking up our mod lines which you will find on this website in the Office & Sop section under mods. Once you have all of those join the TS and I am sure that whoever is online will be more than happy to help you out.
Also a good idea to read through the website to get a good idea of what we are about. You will find activity on our server most days of the week with Tuesday’s and Sundays being reserved for full members, these are players that have already been through selection and indoc. One thing to keep in mind is that we prize team play and maturity above just about everything else and our selection process is designed to find out if you will fit in with the rest of the community.
There should be another selection coming up soon probably at the beginning of next month sometime, as mentioned before though, you are more than welcome to join in on non-official days of the week.

Thanks for the info – one of the reasons I am looking at ARMA 3 is that my COD 2 days are behind me with age and time to put into playing. Family and work take up most of my time.
I have installed all the mods as per your setup page, still finding my feet on how some of this all works
