Operation Somalia

1. SITUATION

Somalian pirates captured container ship 143 belonging to an American shipping company seven month ago and beached it on a sandbank next to the Island of Porto of the east coast of Africa. After months of deliberations the insurance company has refused to pay the $10M ransom. At this time the US government dispatched USS Liberty to the region in case all negotiations with the pirates breaks down. Just before sundown the Captain of 143 was hung on the ship for the whole world to see in a broadcast.  Zulu-Alpha has been given the all clear to attempt a rescue mission of the nine remaining shipmen.

A. Enemy Forces:

The Somali pirates are stationed on the ship with additional pirates inhabiting the Island. Numbers are unknown. Apart from RPG’s the pirates does not have any AA capability. Some patrolling pirate skiffs have been observed. Technical capabilities of the pirates are limited to some Hilux’s with HMG’s. HMG placements have been observed on the ship but are moved to new locations daily.

1. Board the ship and free the hostages. The location of the hostages on the ship in unknown so check heavy weapons fire.
2. Fend off any Retaliatory forces from the Island
3. Avoid civilian casualties
