1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 12:30L 2 July 2018
Lighting: Day
Weather: Clear
Zulu-Alpha is stationed at Akhunds Oilfield in the South Western region of Anizay province to provide security. An urgent radio message is received from Regional Command based at FOB Obeh that a small convoy comprising of 3 x Humvee’s was ambushed by two Taliban soldiers armed with RPG-7’s close to grid 084023. The convoy was able to returned fire and killed one of the attackers while the second one fled East in a Hilux. One Humvee was destroyed and both the Driver and gunner was KIA. The other two vehicles suffered minor damage but lost a total of 4 wheels between them. They have managed to make one vehicle serviceable with the spare wheels they had but need 2 more wheels to extract from the area. Zulu-Alpha is the closest unit having Humvee’s and thus the correct spare wheels. It is the opinion of Regional Command that the Taliban will return with re-enforcements to try and liberate the US vehicles. One of the Humvee’s contains Field Artillery Computer Equipment (FACE) and should not fall into enemy hands at any cost.
Zulu-Alpha is tasked with getting to the ambush site with haste to assist with repairs and securing the site until the MBT’s arrive
AO
A. Enemy Forces:
Enemy strength in the immediate area of the incident is unknown. What we do know is that the Taliban in the South East of Anizay does not possess any armor but have weaponized pickups. IED’s, Apers minefields and ambushes are common in the South of Anizay.
