1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 15:00L 18 August 2016, Day 6
Lighting: Day
Weather: Clear skies.
The destruction of the enemy convoy headed for Marwey Airfield has been a huge blow for the Taliban. In retaliation they have amassed a huge number of insurgents concentrated in the towns of Salmari and Samari. A number of civilians have been taken prisoner and are staged in the open. It is not known if there are more prisoners being kept in hiding but it is a possibility. M.I. have noted large patrols surrounding these towns including light AA and AT vehicles. In the latest shared brief to all forces the QM at Marwey have reported that a crate of APERS bounding mines have gone missing.
Update: On the first insertion ZA cleared half of Samari and were about to free some captured civilians when an IED took out 4 members of the team and six civilians that were held captive at the mosque. The remainder of the team together with re-enforcements were able to extract the bodies of the fallen ZA members. Back at Camp Tusk it is time to re-arm and regroup. The mission needs to be completed as there are still civilians in danger in both of the towns.
2. Mission
