During the early morning operation on day 4, Zulu-Alpha cleared the town of Balama Kurdi.
Early this morning MI received information from a local informant that the Taliban has gathered a large force just east of Samari and are planning an offensive against Marwey Airfield in an attempt to cut off supplies to Camp Tusk. Satellite images has confirmed this and that the convoy looks to be at the ready to start moving at any time. The convoy is too large to launch a direct attack against it, so MI has advised laying a well planned ambush. Luckily the informant were able to get hold of the planned route the convoy will take.
Convoy Route
Convoy strength is noted as 3 x T55 MBT’s. 2 x BMP2’s and 3 x Praga troop carriers.
2. Mission
Prevent the convoy from reaching Marwey Airfield.
Avoid getting into contact with Taliban forces in other towns, causing a delays that may let the convoy reach their target.
Note that during the last sandstorm one of the intake covers on the A10 was blown out and the fan blades were blasted with sand. Technicians are still working on repairs and the A10 will not be available.
