The Pulau insurgency has captured two journalists and an NGO corporate officer visiting the island, all of whom are US citizens. They intend to ransom them.
The Pulau government and it’s armed forces, who have recently been toppled by a radical anti-US faction is fighting this now sole remaining insurgent faction and has successfully driven the insurgents to the Northern tip of the Western island and have gathered a mechanized company. They are completing their preparations and MI predict that they’re attack will begin momentarily.
The problem comes in once the new Government’s open hostility to the US forces is taken into account and it is highly probable that if they will kill the insurgency’s prisoners on sight despite them being US citizens once they capture them. We have a negotiation team dealing with the insurgents, but the government attack leaves us with no time left. Therefore command has seen fit for Zulu-Alpha to conduct a rescue mission before the Government forces capture them from the insurgents and kill them.
A. Enemy Forces:
The insurgents are equipped and trained as guerilla forces with only technicals, truck transports, static SPG-9 and HMGs. They are in a defensive posture with most of their forces at their Southern line facing the government forces in preparation for their attack. MI believes that good timing could result in them being distracted by our attack.
The journalists are held somewhere in the village of Keras according to indigenous assets on the ground, but we don’t know which building. The village is occupied by 20 to 30 insurgents with small arms.
The village of Nurul to the west has some techincals and motorized infantry which may act as a QRF, either to our forces or to the Governments.
The NGO officer is located in the town of Tabako in the exact marked building, as discovered by Phone hacking methods employed by MI. This town has around 50 infantry and several technicals and prepared CSW defences, in anticipation for the government attack and is a staging area for the insurgent’s counterattack. MI does expect most of them to move out and counter-attack the government once their attack begins.
The government attacking company consists of some T-72s, M113s and a ZSU-23, supported by helicopter support in the form of MI-8s and mortar support. They are attacking from the South at any minute and are expected to sweep North to the tip of the island.
B. Friendly Forces:
Zulu-Alpha is based on the USS Liberty off the North Coast of the Western island, with its standoff weaponry made available in the form of cruise missiles and its gun. It’s MH-60s and speed boats are also made available.
