Scheduled for Sunday 13 October 2019
1. SITUATION
Situation Time: 09:30L
Lighting: Late morning.
Weather: Sunny, unlimited visibility.
NATO forces have established a strong foothold in the Puesto Vulcan (North Western) tribal region of Afghanistan, evidenced by the establishment of FOB Martin near the rural settlement of Nefer. Nefer and the regions to their East are still very much under the influence of the Taliban. Local Taliban warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani is active in the area. His forces appear to have their headquarters somewhere around the region of Doran to the North East.
FOB Martin currently experiences daily attacks. Primarily receiving enemy small arms and RPG fire.
Despite the continued violence, FOB Martin is considered essential to bring stability to the region, via firstly cementing the NATO presence in the area, increasing public interaction and visibility to earn and grow the trust of the local populace, and by displacing or destroying all Taliban forces.
A. Enemy Forces:
Taliban forces are highly experienced with automatic weapons and RPG’s, and are equipped with technicals, light transport vehicles and static DshKM emplacements. They are aggressive and are expected to resist any NATO incursions into the region, as they need to show the local populace that they do not fear NATO, and that it is the Taliban who are in control.
Zulu-Alpha is deployed to FOB Martin just West of the rural settlement of Nefer. FOB Martin is defended by static HMG weapons and light armoured.
