Scheduled for Sunday 10 May 2020
Situation Time: 11 March 2020 at 04:45.
Lighting: Night, sunrise at 06:00.
Weather: -18C, overcast and foggy with no wind.
Zulu Company, Alpha Platoon is stationed at the NATO Airbase. The unit is being deployed early in the morning with WARNORD Cold Response 2020 Phase 4 from OPORD.
The primary purpose of Phase 4 is to conduct “high altitude paradrop insertion over a base to gain access to the inside”. This requires the team members to build up a unit until reunited with Fire Team Leaders while they need to gain situational awareness of the area. The weather conditions would make the visibility of the site difficult, so the paradrop needs to be performed precisely to get the whole unit inside. There is a small window of opportunity in which it can be achieved, and units need to be on the ground no later than 05:30 in the morning.
The high altitude air paradrop designed for Phase 4 is on the Pobeda Dam in the north of Chernarus. This base is intended to represent the construction of a new nuclear development facility, the base is well defended from all directions, and the Russian Ground Forces mined the outer boundary. A recent reconnaissance drone over the area captured a photo of a new nuclear reaction dome being constructed underwater. The base holds a large population of scientists, workers, doctors and teachers along with a high ranked officer and well trained Spetnaz ground units.
Zulu Alpha is tasked to paradrop into the AO and destroy the reaction dome before the construction is completed and defences increased around the area. Some Russian Ground Forces patrol the inside edge of the base, and a QRF with more troops and air to ground assets can be expected.
The northern region of Chernarus consists of mainly lush forests with snow-covered meadows in-between. The AO is relatively flat with dense forests surrounding the area. Only a few high peaks are to the east and north of the dam. The overall area does not provide a lot of landing sites, but some open sections can be found around and inside the AO.
A. Enemy Forces:
The Russian Ground Forces can be expected to patrol the base with teams located north, south, east and west of the base. Russian Spetnaz teams have been deployed to the base; more units can be inserted via helo. The outer perimeter is secured with mines, and a high concrete wall surrounds the base.
